Perfect Grade Strike Freedom Review

I thought it was about time to post pictures of the crown jewel in my collection. This kit is probably the funnest kit I've ever built. At first you may realise the unusual ZAFT theme this is because I based this off the ending of the Special Edition Final Plus. In the credits Kira becomes a member of ZAFT to be reunited with Lacus.

This kit had many waiting for its release since Destiny finished...some were already waiting before that....myself! This kit I am glad to say is my last. It is a relief to see that your favourite Gundam has been given the PG treatment and my collection is finally complete. I waited for this kit as early as 2005! I already posted the box art previously so lets go straight to the model!

My kit was a complete spray job. I darkened the shades by a few notches, resprayed all the golds and had the model done in a matte finish to make it look as realistic as possible. Overall the details were amazing it eased some of my concerns that this kit will be an overglorified version of the previously released Lightning Edition!

The complete construction is about 30cm tall of the ground not including the base and is pretty weighty. The model comprises of multiple ratchet joints allowing stability and minimal sag. However there were areas which missed out in terms of attention to detail and quality. The first is that the golden nozzles at the knees and the backpack were not bordered with red and the peg that holds the wings is very flimsy! The stand is very annoying as well the cuffing which holds the model into place is open and strong movement would cause the cuff to come out of place and send the model crashing down.

However due to the stability of the overall construction posing is very versatile and the options are also extremely rich, my only gripe is the fingers they are not strong enough to hold the beam rifles properly the ends are actually blu tacked to the model. The actual rifle itself is pretty long and heavy nearly spanning the length of the entire leg. The rail cannons also featured in this shot realistically are not much different to the ones seen previously on the MG version they are pretty much and oversized version same has to be said with the beam shield design.

My biggest surprise was how well the wings held up in HiMat mode I have provided a variety of poses below. Trust me those things are heavy and also have lots of inbuilt mechanisms

The wings spread out

Classic Freedom style pwnage!

The springloaded mechanisms are actually very well built and they give a very sexy snap sound when the DRAGOON wing is deployed. I also mentioned previously that the Shoulders also have hidden mechanisms.

Overall the kit is worthy of the PG name in terms of detail and complexity and also for setting a new benchmark in sturdiness! Overall it did have its faults but I still like it best out of all my model kits I give this one a 90/100.

Im waiting for a Hot Toys release of Iron Man MK7

Im an otaku that not only likes Japanese anime and manga... I love Marvel comics too! Actually I was foremost a comic nerd before become an anime tragic! With the release of all the recent movies by Marvel Studios I am looking forward to The Avengers!

I originally started being a Spiderman fan however after watching Robert Downey Jnr in the Iron Man movies I have converted! I swear I literally fell off my chair when I saw the MK7 design via a Kotobukiya product promotion it looks AMAZING!

However I would most liked to have seen a Hot Toys release. After joining their Facebook fan following my prayers were answered................the wait begins. The Thor isnt half bad too!

RG MkII

I remember in 2004... I wa studying at my friend Henry's place. We were having a study break playing the PS2! LOL shows my age doesn't it! He told me I would love a particular game it was AEUG vs Titans. Who would have though that a single video game would put me on the path of model building, collecting anime and of course starting ODU!?

Its interesting that I post on this video game as the star of this thread is of course the incoming RG MKII. MKII was one of the very first machines I learnt to play with for its reasonable affordability in the game costing system, damage and reloadable ammo. So of course I felt obliged to comment about this incoming gem from Bandai.

Coming in April this year! and of course theres the AEUG and Titans version.

If the next lot of RG releases are Zeta Gundam related I would personally like to see Zeta and Hyakushiki or maybe Quebelly or The-O so many options!

Metal Build Freedom

The Metal Build Freedom is on its way! True to the series of metal figures... its made from alloy, 1:100, detailed and of course made of pwnage! I've always had a soft spot for the Freedom range so of course trust me to blog on it! Okay honest and straightforward what do I like about this kit?
Posability.....even upside down true to some of the crazy HIMAT stunts that Kira pulled off in the anime.

Interesting magazine scan re Strike Gundam

The RG Skygrasper is getting released at the end of the month which I am getting for Kenji for his Strike! Anyway I was doing my usual runs at my various sources and stumbled across this neat pic. Could this configuration be debuting in the HD remaster!

This concept however isn't new but to see it animated will be pretty awesome. I'd probably say the scene where he was changing packs every twenty seconds with the end result being the death of Nicol. As some of us will recall a SD kit was sold years ago which had all the Striker packs and the front cover art was of course this,

I started to try find subs of the HD Seed remaster all I can find are the 10 bit ones which dont seem to work on my system. My search is still going on! Perhaps our readers can help on this endeavour?

Edit: 8:35PM I managed to get the 10 Bit videos to work I had to downgrade my version of Windows Media Classic and download CCCP. Ended up working like a gem. This rather interesting pic shows up in the ad break screens!

Otaku Down what.....?

Hello friends its been ages since my last post. Work got in the way and............I got married! I've been a bit of a busy bee and my life's finally settling back down. So what does this mean? I get back onto ODU of course! The crew have been really excited lately because first off the Otakun novel project is now completely in full swing we got a complete plot summary for the first arc and pages of concept drafts!

I may have mentioned this before but because of my grandmother's condition I have completely stopped building models but..... this doesn't stop me from posting the COMPLETE PG Strike Freedom!

After a somewhat stale year of releases Bandai has launched back into full swing offering a variety of RG and MG models including the MG Duel Assault Shroud and the subsequent Seed MG releases coming out to allign with the HD remaster project and the RG Gundam MKII which is under development. The toy I have in mind this year would be a Hot Toys release I am praying for a release of Iron Man Mk7! Cant wait to get back into the engine room....ODU full steam ahead!!!
