SD 00 Qan[T] Not so bad afterall!

Ok I admit I overeacted last time. But now I feel like someones listening to my rants! It took me a while to realise that this product was actually at the 50th Plamo Show which I covered extensively, I guess not enough! For a 00 series SD the Qan[T'] is pretty nice. I can see the big NOOB I TOLD YOU TO BELIEVE stamp coming down already.... Sorry for my rant Bandai. This product is available in December for 800 Yen.

1/144 HGUC Gouf Custom thoughts

Thanks to the goodness of digital SLR cameras. Our Japanese brethren are quick to straight build kits for the whole world to see. I find these reviews are helpful as they offer a view different from Bandai and can let me guage into the decision if the product is worth buying or not. So without further waffle lets get into what I think about this kit based on their photos.

The box art to me is very stock standard HGUC it doesn't exactly communicate any instant buying impulses.

I find that the colours are rich and the lines are quite good as of recent years the 1/144 range has really improved. From observation there's minimal use of decals perhaps the only one would be the eye.

The primary feature of the Gouf Custom is the gatling shield its made up of multiple parts and the details are accurately portrayed.

The kit has many inclusions and feature rich! From what I can tell from the various poses this kit has been placed in its highly articulate as well. What I find impressive about this model is that the Gouf can support the entire weight of the gatling shield on its arm and still be able to be posed dynamically, In all I think this kit is truly fantastic and would give the  green light for our readers to not hold back and buy!

1/100 Metal Build 00 7 Swords

I guess this is the closest that you can get to a MG 00 at the moment! Presenting a new series of figures the Metal Build line! Metal Build is a premium figure line which I guess can be described as the Chougokin of Gundam models. The ratio that is being offered is generous too because to date I think the Robot Daimashi line is tiny, Metal Build will surely become a success for non builders.

The inclusions are prettycool I always had a soft spot for the 7 swords. As far as I can see the details and decals seem to be quite nice. I'll keep a close eye on this one! This figure will be release in March next year at a retail price of 13800 yen. Ouch its more expensive than a MG but if you think about its predominately metal so I guess that justifies the cost lets just hope it wont be like the Armor Plus Tekkaman Blade which was an absolute joke to pose.

Saber - Excalibur

Another Saber figurine added to my collection. You wouldn't be able to guess who my favorite anime character is would you? After my initial post on Saber Lily earlier this year, I thought Goodsmile Company couldn't raise the level of likeness for Saber. Well I'm glad that I was wrong in that assumption.

From early previews of this 1/7 scale painted figure I was already impressed with it...I think I would blurted out "massu getto". I was able to receive delivery of Saber Excalibur last Tuesday, but I didn't want to open the box and review until Saturday. Goodsmile Company really has lifted the bar again with this release of Saber. In all honesty I am left without words to describe how this release looks...in a few words, all I can say is "it looks awesome!!!"

The box that this release of Saber came in wasn't as all flashy as Saber Lily, but it was still good none the less. To make sure that it was authentic, I looked for the Typemoon holographic sticker, which was there. And even though on the box it mentioned "Made in China", I'm glad the overall product doesn't suffer from China Quality =P

The figure itself was fastened to the box very securely to prevent it from moving about during transportation. The contents included the base, the figurine obviously, the two swords, the metal pin that would hold the figure up, and surprisingly an instruction manual on how to prop the figure up as well as how to go about placing your choice of sword onto the awaiting hands of Saber.

GoodSmile Company has gone through a lot effort in trying to get as much detail onto the figurine as possible. And it does show in the amount of detail on both the swords as well as Saber. Depending on what you decide to have Saber hold in her hands, the look on her face means business. And if you're her enemy, get ready to be history.

The concerns that I have with this figure is that of the metal support that holds the figure up. For the size of the figure it does weigh a bit, and I can't help but feel that the figure might fall as time goes on. Also the front part of Saber's dress shows an inconsistent application of paint. I don't know if this is due to the paint not being mixed properly or moisture got onto the paint as it was drying, but the marks are easily seen under normal light.

Then again I am nit picking at an already fantastic representation of Saber. Despite the slight faults, this figure ranks as one of my favorites. I'm just really happy and fortunate to be in possession of both Saber Excalibur and Saber Lily. These two figurines, both from Goodsmile Company will form an excellent addition to any otaku's collection of figurines and Gundam model collection.

As I said before that I couldn't find the any words to describe this latest Saber release from Goodsmile Company, I'll let you, our readers come up with your own description for this figurine. Enjoy the photographs that I managed to take of Saber.

Fate Stay Night - Unlimited Blade Works

It has been a long time coming, but finally I have had the chance to watch Fate Stay Night - Unlimited Blade Works. Just a warning for any of our readers out there that has not seen it yet, this review contains spoilers. So if you don't mind being spoilt then read on, otherwise you're more then welcome to hit the Backspace button on your browser =P

Unlimited Blade Works (UBW) is an alternate storyline from the visual novel that was given an animated adaption and released in Japan back in January of this year. The original seiyu from the TV series return to fulfill their original roles in this animated film including the director Yamaguchi Yuji, and I must admit that I'm glad that they did. I can't imagine a different seiyu for Saber. I would have felt sick =P

 Unlike the TV series where the audience was able to witness a growing relationship between Shirou and Saber, for the animated film; the relationship is strictly that of Master and Servant. However, we still see the side of Shirou that we all come to know and admire, and that is he places the welfare of others above his own.

This therein leads to the heart of the animated film. I haven't read the visual novel for Unlimited Blade Works, but from what I was able to gather from various blogs and opinions from others; Archer is the embodient of Shirou's heroic ideals. Like the TV series, Archer is portrayed to the audience as confident and often arrogant figure.

If this is the first time you have been introduced to the Fate Stay Night story line, get ready to be lost and confused. The film does have a brief run down on the relationship between Master and Servant, but it stops short on explaining in any detail how a Master is able to summon a particular class of Servant. It presumes that the viewer has either watched the TV series or have read the visual novel and so it leaves out a lot of vital details for the newly initiated.

Having said that, for those of us that has already been aquainted with Fate Stay Night, the setting still holds true to how we would have remembered it from the TV series. The characters and in particular Saber are really well presented. The only difference is that of Gilgamesh. The Golden armor has been replaced with casual clothing, which gives him a more laid back look but still sinister none the less.

As I mentioned earlier, the relationship between Shirou and Saber is strictly Master and Servant. But for the animated film, it can be safe to say that the relationship between Shirou and Rin goes beyond just being friends. This is further evident when Rin establishes a mana circuit with Shirou in order to help him create the Reality Marble.

For Fate Stay Night fans, if you haven't already watched this film, go and watch it. Remember that this is an alternate route in the visual novel and it does not follow the TV series. As much as I would like Saber to have more air time, this film focuses on Shirou and Rin. It was able to reveal to the audience who Archer represented and explained how Rin was able to summon him at the start of the film.

MG 00 Qan[T] More new pics!

Due to the pending release of the MG 00Qan[T] this month I think this would be the final batch of official pics. The kit is look better and better however theres a point I am let down on. I believe the kit would be even better if they had stand accesories to mimick the deployment of the GN Blade bits!

New GN Drive style is pretty cool looks more practical than the traditional dome shaped style
